If you were born during the time period of Virgo you are governed by the planet Mercury.
Mercury is the closest planet to the sun and makes a quick orbit around the sun, retrograding at least 3 times a year, causing communication and technical disruptions as is well known. Mercury is our intellect, and quick thinking.
In Virgo these traits are manifested as analytical problem solving with clear and concise communication, attention to details and practical thinking.
Virgo as the 2nd Zodiac with characteristics symbolized by the Earth Element or *Arth Trikone in Vedic astrology.
As the second zodiac of the Earth Element it brings connection and stability to the world with a practical approach to life, a strong sense of duty and stability in their relationships. Virgo as an Earth element is service oriented and concerned with helping, healing and nurturing others, personal or work relations.
*Artha Trikone in Vedic Astrology is the path of material prosperity, career and resources. Virgo as the natural 6th Trikona/House relates to service to others both in terms of work and personal life.
The symbol of a maiden represents modesty, purity and a connection to fertility and the harvest season.
Occasionally the Maiden is shown as carrying wheat, which is a symbol of Virgo’s connection to the earth and ability to nurture and support others. They are also able to use their analytical skills to separate what is important and useful and what is not, just like separating the wheat from the chaff.
No one single planet defines you or alter the course of your life. Sun in a certain zodiac only define your life-force, your ego. It controls your willpower and the sense of self and essential personality element.
